Floyd Hughes Memorial Scholarship
The Huntsville Alumni Chapter Kappa Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer the Floyd Hughes Memorial Scholarship. This prestigious award offers a renewable, 4-year scholarship ($1,000 per year) to students who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, in the community or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities.
For many people, Floyd Hughes represented the best of the human spirit: compassionate, fair, committed to promoting community among all people and supportive of people in their individual efforts. Floyd transformed the minds and hearts of all those around him. His death in 2013 left a void in many lives. Floyd Hughes was both a humanitarian and a visionary. He envisioned a community that celebrated differences and that allowed individuals to develop to their fullest potential. His energies were totally dedicated to creating this kind of world. This scholarship is dedicated to honor his vision and his memory.
Floyd Hughes was a charter member of the Huntsville Alumni Chapter Kappa Scholarship Foundation. A native of Canton, MS, Floyd Hughes was a 1978 initiate of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1979.
